Senior Java Backend Engineer – Microservices Modernization

Job summary

PURVIEW is delivering a modern, BYOC platform to manage software development controls from Sheffield, UK. You will re-platform a legacy app, build microservices, and modernise the stack while addressing dependencies and vulnerabilities.

You’ll work in an agile team, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to automated testing and rapid iterations in a CI/CD setup. Strong English and Java background are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building microservices architectural style applications.
• Experience with Graph databases (Neo4j desirable).
• Experience modernising legacy Java applications.
• Experience with the design and build of REST APIs.
• Strong technical and analytical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in BDD and/or TDD approaches and frameworks (unit/integration test automation).
• Experience resolving issues with dependencies and performing upgrades.
• Experience working with Agile including Jira/Confluence.
• Strong English skills, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers, testers and the wider organisation to build and run products; design, develop & implement back-end features with a small element of frontend work.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to design and launch new features.
• Proactively resolve customer issues and respond to feature requests.
• Build APIs and microservices.
• Work in an agile CI/CD environment to deliver rapid iterations at a sustained velocity.
• Be an active team member, participating in peer reviews and testing others' code through automated test scripting.
