Job summary

GCS in the United Kingdom is seeking a Java-focused developer to support re-platforming an internal application and modernising its architecture. The role involves backend work with a degree of frontend development, in an Agile setting with CI/CD practices.

You will design and implement microservices, REST APIs, and contribute to code quality through tests and peer reviews, while collaborating closely with the engineering and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java 11+ and modern Java features.
• Experience designing and building microservices architectures.
• Experience with REST APIs and front-end interfaces (Angular desirable).
• Knowledge of Graph databases (Neo4j) is a plus.
• Strong testing and automation mindset (JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber).
• Experience with Agile, Jira/Confluence, and CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers and testers to build and run products.
• Design, develop and implement back-end features with some front-end work.
• Collaborate with engineering to design and launch new features.
• Proactively resolve customer issues and respond to feature requests.
• Build APIs and microservices.
• Work in a CI/CD environment to deliver rapid iterations.
• Participate in peer reviews and automated testing.
