Job summary

ARQ in London is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems powering our fintech products. You will help drive financial inclusion and global reach.

You’ll work on greenfield projects, REST APIs, microservices, and critical systems like payments and treasury. Our stack centers on Java, Postgres, and Spring Boot, with a focus on clean code, TDD, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Backend development experience with fluency in Java.
• Bachelor's Degree in CS/Math/Physics or related field.
• Fast learner with strong English communication (verbal and written).
• Track record building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups.

Responsibilities

• Greenfield development and improvement of existing systems.
• Build REST APIs and microservices; evolve systems like payments, treasury, and transactions.
• Work with Java on the backend with Postgres; leverage Spring Boot for delivery.
• Maintain clean code with focus on maintainability, TDD, DDD, and CI/CD.
