Job summary

ARQ is hiring a Backend Engineer in the UK to design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems powering our fintech products.

You will work on greenfield development, REST APIs and microservices, evolving systems such as payments and treasury management. Our stack uses Java with Spring Boot and Postgres, with a focus on clean code, TDD, and rapid delivery. Office policy requires 3–4 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong backend development experience.
• Excellent communication skills in English, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems powering fintech products.
• Build REST APIs and microservices; evolve systems like payments and treasury management.
• Focus on clean code, test-driven development (TDD) and rapid delivery using Spring Boot and Postgres.
