Job summary

ARQ in London seeks a Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend systems powering fintech products. You will build REST APIs, craft microservices, and work on systems used for payments, treasury, and transactions booking, with a Java/PostgreSQL stack and Spring Boot.

Join a fast-growing team embracing clean code, TDD and CI/CD, collaborating with product and security to deliver reliable money-movement capabilities across borders. Office 3–4 days a week in London.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable backend development experience with Java.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Math/Physics or engineering/SCience.
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).
• Experience building complex products used by millions in fast-scaling environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, secure backend systems.
• Build REST APIs and microservices supporting payments, treasury, and transactions.
• Work with Java stack (Spring Boot) and Postgres; emphasize clean code, TDD and CI/CD.
