Job summary

GlobalLogic in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build robust, scalable microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3. You’ll work across the full backend stack—from API design to production-grade integration tests—in a hybrid setup with two days per week in the office.

You’ll implement REST APIs, build event-driven services with Kafka, apply domain-driven design, and use MapStruct and Feign for clean object mapping and service-to-service communication.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining microservices architectures.
• Practical experience with Kafka (producers, consumers, event-driven patterns).

We're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build robust, scalable microservices. You'll work across the full backend stack — from API design through to production-grade integration testing — using modern Java and Spring technologies.

Mobility: Comfortable working from the Glasgow office 2 days per week.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3
• Proven experience building and maintaining microservices architectures
• Practical experience with Kafka (producers, consumers, event-driven patterns)
• Strong understanding of REST API design best practices
• Proficiency with Gradle for build management
• Familiarity with MapStruct and Feign
• Working knowledge of domain-driven design (DDD) patterns
• An integration-testing mindset — comfortable testing services in realistic, end-to-end scenarios, not just isolated units
