Job summary

Catapult is a sports technology company building a football analytics platform in London. You will design, build, and evolve both backend services and frontend UX/UI, turning product ideas into reliable software that delivers value to professional teams.

You will own features from design through deployment, collaborating with Product and other engineers to deliver high-quality software. This is a hands-on role in a fast-growing company with opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Java / Spring Boot and a modern JavaScript / TypeScript framework such as Angular or React.
• Experience with Kotlin is a plus, but not required.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including data modelling, query design, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of API design, distributed systems, and client server architectures.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and release automation.
• Ability to take ownership of features from architecture to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code across backend and frontend.
• Drive code quality, organisation and best practices throughout the development process.
• Participate in team engineering processes, design reviews and code reviews to improve quality.
• Contribute to test strategy by defining test cases and writing unit tests; drive automation where possible.
• Apply a growth mindset; share ideas and own tasks in a collaborative environment.
