Job summary

RUTLAND AND DISTRICT SCHOOLS' FEDERATION is seeking a Senior IT Technician to maintain and develop the federation’s IT infrastructure, ensuring secure and reliable services for staff and students. You will support a diverse range of technologies, including networking, servers, cloud services and cyber security.

Working with the Technologies Director, you will lead IT projects, provide excellent user support and contribute to ongoing technology improvements in a forward-thinking educational

Qualifications

• Experience supporting IT infrastructure and services in a professional environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of networking, Windows Server, virtualization and storage technologies.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID or similar cloud-based technologies.
• Knowledge of cyber security principles and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
• Customer-focused approach with commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation, maintenance and development of the Federation’s IT infrastructure and services.
• Provide high-quality technical support to staff and students via email, phone and in person.
• Install, configure, maintain network infrastructure, servers, devices and cloud-based services.
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability; identify improvement opportunities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating as needed.
• Support implementation of technology projects and transformation initiatives.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and support continuous improvement of services.
