Job summary

Equation Recruitment is partnering with a well-established MSP in Oxfordshire to appoint a Senior IT Engineer (Level 2/3) based in Bicester. The role offers £38,000–£42,000 per annum and involves taking ownership of complex issues across networking, Microsoft 365 and Azure, with direct client engagement.

You will work with other senior engineers to design, implement and document client network infrastructure, mentor junior staff and contribute to service delivery across multiple client

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years' hands-on MSP/infrastructure experience.
• Strong networking knowledge: routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure.
• Experience across multiple client environments and Microsoft 365 tenants.
• Proven independent problem-solving track record.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent client communication and confidence.
• Ability to mentor and support junior engineers.
• Proactive, professional, customer-focused approach.

The Opportunity

A well-established and growing Microsoft Partner Managed Service Provider (MSP) is looking to appoint an experienced Senior IT Engineer (Level 2/3) to join its senior technical team.

Supporting more than 120 businesses across Oxfordshire and beyond, the company has built its reputation on providing a genuinely personal, engineer-led service. The Role

The Senior IT Engineer will act as a senior technical point of escalation, taking ownership of complex issues and working alongside other senior engineers to deliver reliable, secure and effective solutions.

The role offers considerable variety, with responsibility across networking, Microsoft 365 and Azure, as well as opportunities to provide technical consultancy and support the development of more junior members of the engineering team.

The successful candidate will be trusted to work independently, investigate problems thoroughly and use their technical judgement to deliver the right solution.

Key Responsibilities

About the Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced IT Engineer with strong hands-on technical skills and a proven ability to troubleshoot independently.

The role would suit someone with:

• 3–5+ years' hands-on experience in a similar MSP, IT support or infrastructure environment
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs
• Demonstrable experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure
• Experience working across multiple client environments and Microsoft 365 tenants
• A proven track record of independent problem-solving
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients
• The ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers
• A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach

Qualifications & Certifications

Formal qualifications and certifications are not essential.

The company places greater value on genuine, hands-on technical experience and the ability to demonstrate practical knowledge than on a list of certifications.
