Job summary

Fuse Energy in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior IoT Engineer to design, build, and scale the connected hardware powering the Energy Network. This hands-on role spans embedded systems, networking, device security, and fleet connectivity—from prototype through deployment.

You will contribute to secure provisioning, telemetry, and robust operations across a growing fleet of distributed energy devices. You will work with firmware, hardware, and backend teams to deliver production-ready

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience building connected embedded products.
• Strong C/C++ for embedded systems with RTOS experience such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
• Experience with Python for testing, tooling, or automation.
• Solid understanding of device connectivity and networking fundamentals.
• Experience implementing secure device communications using TLS/certificates.
• familiarity with firmware updates, bootloaders, or CI/CD for embedded software.
• Practical debugging with lab/software tools (logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, network sniffers).
• Strong problem-solving skills across hardware and software boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain connectivity across Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and BLE.
• Build and optimise secure device messaging using MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, or WebSockets.
• Support secure boot flows, key/certificate provisioning, and hardware-backed device identity.
• Help build and maintain signed firmware update pipelines including OTA and rollback.
• Integrate devices with cloud IoT platforms and backend services.
• Define telemetry, health monitoring, and observability for deployed devices.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, power electronics, mechanical, and software teams.
