Job summary

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Band 6) / Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Band 7) for Devices/Invasive. The role involves performing pacemaker and ICD procedures, including implantation, follow-ups and home monitoring reviews.

The post requires independence in bradycardia pacing and basic cardiac angiography, with potential pathway to more senior invasive responsibilities based on experience.

Qualifications

• Independence in bradycardia pacing (implant and follow up)
• Independence in basic cardiac angiography
• Experience with pacemaker/ICD procedures preferred
• Eligibility for devices/invasive role based on experience

Responsibilities

• Perform pacemaker and ICD procedures, including implant procedures, device follow-ups and home monitoring reviews.
• Carry out implantable device follow up clinics using dedicated device programmers, write reports and independently initiate pacemaker therapy prescriptions based on clinical findings.
• Analyse device and patient interactions and report to the implanting physician the suitability of electrode positions.
• Contribute to delivering high-quality local and specialist services to improve patient health and wellbeing.
• Support development and career opportunities within the team.
