Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Chelmsford is seeking a Senior/Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Invasive/CRM) to perform pacemaker and ICD procedures, including implantations, follow ups, and remote monitoring. The role requires independence in bradycardia pacing and basic left heart catheterisation.

The post is Band 6/7, 28.5 hours per week, maternity cover until May 2027, with a pro rata salary of £39,959 per annum. Training and supervision duties are included.

Qualifications

• BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent) and HCPC registration as a Cardiac Physiologist/Scientist.
• Working towards BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA postgraduate education.
• RCCP/AHCS registration.
• At least one year of clinical experience at Band 5 Cardiac Physiologist level.
• Independent in bradycardia pacing implantation and follow up and basic left heart catheterisation.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competence across the full range of cardiac investigations and supervise staff.
• Specialist knowledge in pacing devices and basic catheterisation.
• Perform complex invasive cardiology investigations and report findings.
• Carry out implantable device follow up clinics and remote monitoring, write reports.
• Attend ICD/CRT-D deactivations and device reprogramming as required.
• Communicate sensitive clinical information to nurses, patients and relatives.
