Job summary

Spinwell Ltd. is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead a critical on-site project in Newbury. You will establish a two-site Hyper-V cluster, migrate existing VMware/Hyper-V hosts, and implement a PKI/Certificate Authority solution while ensuring governance alignment.

The role requires hands-on infrastructure expertise, active involvement in penetration testing support, and producing thorough technical documentation for pre-approvals and handover.

Qualifications

• Experience establishing resilient, highly available infrastructure.
• Proven migration of physical/virtual hosts (VMware/Hyper-V).
• Design and implement PKI and Certificate Authority solutions.
• Produce comprehensive technical documentation for handover.
• Support security testing and remediation activities.

Responsibilities

• Establish a two-site Hyper-V cluster with the provided hardware.
• Migrate about 20 physical and 20 virtual VMware/Hyper-V devices.
• Upgrade and patch migrated systems per governance standards.
• Provision virtual infrastructure to host monitoring apps.
• Design a Microsoft-based Certificate Authority and PKI.
• Assist penetration testing and remediation as required.
• Deliver detailed documentation for approvals, testing and handover.

Location: Newbury - On-site attendance is mandatory for all practical activities.
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £500-£650 per day

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER

• Establish a resilient, highly available, two-site Hyper-V cluster using pre-purchased, newly supplied hardware.
• Migrate approximately 20 existing physical and 20 existing virtual VMware and Hyper-V hosted devices to the new platform.
• Upgrade and patch migrated systems where appropriate, compliant with the latest local governance standards.
• Provision virtual infrastructure to host the two monitoring applications.
• Design and implement a Microsoft-based Certificate Authority and PKI solution.
• Support penetration testing and remediation activities as required.
• Provide comprehensive technical documentation relating to this package for pre-approvals, testing and handover along as well as knowledge-transfer activities for existing ICT support staff.
