Job summary

Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, also known internally as Lead IT Systems Engineer - Infrastructure, to provide technical guidance and governance across server, hosting and platform infrastructure.

You will oversee MSP-driven operations, contribute to project delivery and drive continual improvement for on‑premises and cloud environments, ensuring security, availability and resilience.

Qualifications

Experience providing technical leadership for server, hosting and platform infrastructure.
Ability to govern and assure complex infrastructure services.
Experience guiding incident and problem resolution in a technical IT environment.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for MCA server, hosting, storage, backup and disaster recovery infrastructure.
Coordinate with the MSP to assure maintenance, monitoring, patching and capacity planning.
Act as senior escalation point for infrastructure incidents and service requests.
Lead and coach IT teams, support knowledge sharing and shift-left activity.
Translate infrastructure designs into operational services with technical architects.
