Job summary

Sigma Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own the core IT infrastructure at a busy Cardiff manufacturing site. You will manage networking, firewalls, AD and virtualization while supporting a small IT team.

You will drive the move to Microsoft cloud, implement data governance with Purview, and set up retention policies. The role is on-site five days a week with an early Friday finish.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on infrastructure experience including networking, security, AD and virtualization.
• Capability to grow into data governance with Purview and cloud concepts.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain core infrastructure at a large Cardiff manufacturer.
• Handle patching, fault finding, upgrades and 3rd line support to keep systems resilient.
• Assist in moving to Microsoft cloud and implement data governance with Purview.
• Set up sensitivity labels, classification and retention policies with the business.
• Support end users and resolve issues across a hybrid on-prem and Azure environment.

Why You Should Apply

Take ownership: The engineer before you spent 30 years here and recently retired, so this is a rare chance to step in and make the infrastructure yours. You'll manage the nuts and bolts (networking, firewalls, Active Directory, virtualisation) that keep a busy Cardiff factory running.

Grow into the cloud: The business is moving to the Microsoft cloud for data governance, and you'll help lead the way. If you've got the infrastructure foundations and understand cloud concepts like Purview, sensitivity labels and retention, you'll get to build this from a near-blank canvas.

Supportive team: You'll work alongside an existing senior infrastructure engineer. So when one of you is off, the business keeps running, and you've always got someone to bounce problems off.

Your Friday afternoons back: Finish at 1:30 pm every Friday, plus flexitime, so you get a proper head start on the weekend for family, hobbies, or just some downtime.

Your salary, benefits & hours of work

• Up to £55,000, plus company pension contributions of up to 10%
• Early finish every Friday at 1:30 pm, plus flexitime
• 24 days' holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 30 with service

• Hours are 7:45am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 7:45am to 1:30pm Friday. Based on site five days a week at a busy Cardiff manufacturing site

• Set up sensitivity labels, classification and retention policies alongside the business
• Support end users and resolve issues across a hybrid on-prem and Azure environment
