FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a senior IT Project Manager to work for our client within the technology sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Cheshire.

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager who has the confidence and ability to go into their organisation and implement a more organised and coordinated approach to their project management. The role holder will manage and deliver projects across the entire organisation. This role will suit someone with a track record of delivering business systems within distributed organisations and someone who can quickly build effective working relationships to gain buy-in, ensure effective collaboration and deliver successful, value driven outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the project sponsor and key stakeholders, such as the work manager, to develop the project charter in line with the relevant policies
  • Work with the matrixed project teams to deliver the project to the agreed cost, time, scope and quality
  • Plan and manage the projects through processes which may include, requirements definition, invitation to tender, vendor selection, solution design, development, configuration, unit testing, training, integrated system testing, user acceptance testing, end user training, data migration deployment and handover to business operations
  • Track progress against the plan and ensure that any changes to the plan are managed in accordance with client’s processes
  • Co-ordinate resources in support of the plan
  • Facilitate the availability of additional expertise when issues, questions and technical concerns arise that are unplanned, promptly driving issues through to resolution
  • Report progress of the project to the appropriate stakeholders and forums
  • Assess risks associated with the project, recommending appropriate actions, and implementing these as appropriate
  • Ensure facilities are available to the project in terms of accommodation, IT and access within the client’s policies and processes

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Project Management role
  • Track record of delivering business systems within distributed organisations
  • Ability to quickly build effective working relationships to gain buy-in, ensure effective collaboration and deliver successful, value driven outcomes
  • Demonstrable Agile/Scaled Agile experience
  • Able to multi-task and understand complex situations quickly
  • Technical or IT experience would be highly valued
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholder management experience at all levels
  • Previous delivery experience within large science research programmes desirable
