Job summary

Fenland District Council is seeking an experienced Information Governance Officer to lead a broad range of information governance matters, advising managers and senior leaders. You will act as the organisation’s subject matter expert, ensuring compliance and supporting the effective use of information across the organisation.

This role offers hybrid working, autonomy and the opportunity to shape policies, investigate breaches, deliver training, and influence stakeholders across services.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
• Experience handling complex information requests.
• Ability to interpret legislation and communicate clearly.
• Proven judgement and ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Lead FOI and Data Protection requests.
• Provide expert advice on information governance.
• Develop and review information governance policies and frameworks.
• Investigate data breaches and compliance concerns.
• Deliver guidance and training to staff.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with services and stakeholders.
• Identify risks and drive improvements.
