Opus People Solutions Limited is seeking an experienced Import Clerk to join their freight and customs operation in a hands-on role. You will manage Deep Sea Import shipments from booking to final delivery, coordinating with overseas partners and customers, and ensuring accurate import documentation and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years in freight forwarding or logistics, strong admin skills, and the ability to handle multiple shipments while maintaining excellent service

• Minimum 3-4 years' experience within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Proven experience handling Deep Sea Import shipments.
• Good understanding of UK import procedures and customs processes.
• Experience working with shipping lines, freight networks and overseas agents.
• Strong administration and documentation skills.

• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsabilités

• Manage Deep Sea Import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
• Coordinate with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and customers.
• Prepare and process import documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Liaise with customs authorities and support customs clearance activities.
• Track and monitor shipment progress, providing proactive updates to customers.
• Resolve operational issues and delays quickly and effectively.
• Arrange delivery schedules and transport requirements.
• Ensure all files, records and customs documentation are maintained accurately.
• Calculate and verify freight, customs and import-related charges.
• Support other freight forwarding and operational activities as required.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
• Assist across the wider logistics function, reflecting the collaborative nature of a small team.
