Job summary

Admiral Group plc is seeking a Senior Capital & Impairment Manager to lead the Financial Risk team within Admiral Money. The role focuses on impairment, forecasting, and capital analytics across unsecured personal loans, motor finance and mortgages, with governance and strategic influence at senior levels.

The position is hybrid with a Cardiff office requirement of at least two days per week, and you will build and lead a team of analysts and modelling specialists to deliver robust insights for

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading impairment, forecasting, stress testing or capital analytics activities within a regulated lending environment.
• Deep technical expertise in IFRS 9 impairment modelling and expected credit loss (ECL) methodologies.
• Strong understanding of stress testing, scenario analysis and the interaction between credit losses, capital outcomes and financial resilience.
• Experience providing oversight, challenge and thought leadership to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
• Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing analytical or modelling teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advanced analytical capability with strong experience using Python, SQL and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead IFRS 9 impairment framework development and governance.
• Own impairment forecasting and insight generation for senior stakeholders.
• Lead stress testing and scenario analysis for capital planning and regulatory readiness.
• Interpret portfolio performance, ECL, and capital requirements for decision making.
• Oversee funding and liquidity risk exposures, warehouse structures and covenants.
• Advise governance forums and translate analyses into actionable recommendations.
• Coach and develop a team of analysts and modelling specialists.
• Drive modelling and automation improvements for efficiency and scalability.
