Job summary

Citizens Advice Bristol is seeking a Lead Immigration Specialist to guide a team of volunteer advisers and deliver expert immigration advice. You will allocate cases, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality, compliant guidance across all queries.

With accreditation expectations and CPD commitments, you will maintain standards and develop knowledge, while managing a varied workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced welfare context.

Qualifications

• Five years’ immigration law advice in a social welfare context (or more if part-time).
• Experience delivering supervision/mentoring and supporting colleagues to improve.
• Understand relationship between immigration and other Social Welfare Law areas.
• Ability to interpret regulations and explain them clearly to colleagues and clients.
• Experience with cloud-based systems and standard IT tools; diary management.
• Commitment to CPD and ongoing professional development.
• Awareness of accreditation standards (IAA levels) and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with Legal Aid Agency contracts and third/charity sector contexts.

Responsibilities

• Provide immigration specialist advice and supervision to a team of advisers.
• Allocate cases in line with advisers’ experience and support with cases.
• Check advisers’ case notes and ensure accurate, compliant guidance.
• Be the first port of call for queries within the team and ensure actions taken are appropriate.
