Job summary

Avance Consulting is seeking an experienced IBM storage and backup administrator based in Leeds, United Kingdom. The role requires hands-on management of IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), SAN fabrics, and flash storage, with a focus on reliability, performance, and DR readiness.

Travel to Warwick during the transition phase is required; expenses are to be confirmed. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot, document procedures, and contribute to automation using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

Qualifications

• Experience with IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) backup environment including schedules, policies, restores, failover and disk storage operations.
• Experience with SAN fabrics (Brocade/Cisco), zoning, switch upgrades, and fabric health.
• Datacenter operations experience, including hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• L3 escalation for critical storage and backup incidents.
• Plan and execute DR drills, storage migrations and capacity expansions.
• Solid understanding of SAN/FC, multipathing, VMware/AIX storage integrations.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (Bash/Python/PowerShell).

Responsibilities

• Manage & administer IBM Storage platforms.
• Provision storage, zoning, replication, firmware upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Administer IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) backup environment incl. schedules, policies, restores, failover, fail back and disk storage operations.
• Manage SAN fabrics (Brocade/Cisco), zoning, switch upgrades, and fabric health.
• Handle datacenter operations, including hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• Act as L3 escalation for critical storage & backup incidents.
• Plan and execute DR drills, storage migrations, and capacity expansion.
• Hands-on with IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) & IBM FlashSystem/SVC.
• Understand SAN/FC, multipathing, VMware/AIX storage integrations.
• Experience with replication technologies (FlashCopy, GM, MM).
• Create technical documentation, SOPs, and automation scripts (Bash/Python/PowerShell).
