Job summary

The IASB Technical Staff position in London leads and supports financial instruments-related projects, including the post-implementation review of IFRS 17, through research, stakeholder engagement and drafting of papers and due process documents.

You will engage with industry, accounting, regulatory and standard-setting communities to gather views, provide strategic project direction and support senior staff and the IASB in delivering high-quality accounting standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong technical and practical experience in applying IFRS Accounting Standards in accounting for complex financial instruments and/or insurance contracts.
• The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of applying IFRS 9, IAS 32 and/or IFRS 17 to determine the appropriate accounting for complex transactions or instruments in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to, and oversee where relevant, the development of technical proposals for consideration by the IASB and facilitate the IASB’s decision-making through evidenced-based research, internal and external consultation and drafting of papers and due process documents.
• Provide strategic direction to projects and identify and manage political issues and risks. Consider implications of the work of the ISSB, as appropriate.
• Prepare and/or review a range of documents and communications for internal and external use.
• Act as a credible and authoritative representative of the IASB by consulting with a wide range of external stakeholders from industry and the accounting, investment, regulatory and standard-setting communities, to ascertain their views and to share information.
• Provide general project support to senior staff and the IASB.
• Contribute to the development and coaching of other staff
• Manage relevant committees and working groups.
• Manage technical project administrative matters
