Job summary

Partner Company in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting to lead IFRS research, contract assessments, and key reporting activities. The role combines technical accounting with month-end close, consolidation, and coordination with external auditors.

You will work with Finance leadership, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and business teams to assess complex transactions and ensure well-supported accounting conclusions in line with IFRS requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting standards.
• Experience assessing contracts and business arrangements for accounting implications, especially revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Strong technical writing skills, including memos, position papers, or audit support documentation.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, trial balance reviews, account analysis and consolidation entries.
• Attention to detail with sound professional judgment for complex accounting matters.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and collaboration across Finance and non-Finance functions.
• External auditors experience valued; public accounting or audit background preferred but not required.
• CPA/ACCA or equivalent qualification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts and business arrangements to determine their accounting implications, with focus on revenue recognition under IFRS 15 and lease accounting under IFRS 16.
• Research IFRS guidance and prepare technical accounting memos and position papers covering revenue, leases, impairment, provisions, consolidation, related parties, and other topics.
• Support month-end close activities through trial balance reviews, account analysis, and identification of unusual or judgmental items.
• Prepare and review consolidation entries, including intercompany eliminations, reclassifications, accruals, and other group reporting adjustments.
• Coordinate with external auditors during year-end processes, including local statutory audits and group audit requirements.
• Prepare audit support materials, gather evidence, participate in walkthroughs, and help resolve auditor questions efficiently.
• Work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and business teams to understand transactions and evaluate their accounting impact.
• Support technical accounting and broader finance projects as required.
• Maintain and update accounting policies in line with new and evolving accounting standards.
• Develop training and guidance materials to help finance and non-finance stakeholders understand accounting requirements.
• Contribute to consistent, well-documented accounting practices across the organization.
