Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist in Newcastle upon Tyne to lead hydrogeological and water environment assessments across renewables, infrastructure and industrial sectors. The role involves project delivery, client liaison, and supervising junior staff.

You will work on monitoring programmes, risk assessments, groundwater licensing, and reporting, with hybrid/ flexible working options and a clear path toward Chartered status.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience delivering UK Hydrogeology or water environment projects.
• Degree in Hydrogeology or related discipline.
• Strong technical reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading hydrogeological and water environment assessments.
• Preparing and reviewing EIA water chapters.
• Hydrogeological investigations, monitoring and risk assessments.
• Groundwater abstraction licensing and permitting work.
• Planning and managing monitoring programmes.
• Technical analysis, interpretation and reporting.
• Managing projects and liaising directly with clients.
• Mentoring less experienced scientists and Hydrogeologists.
