Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group Limited is seeking a Mechanical Fitter in Southampton with a strong background in hydraulics and heavy plant maintenance. Experience in metal recycling or heavy mobile plant is preferred.

You will diagnose hydraulic and mechanical faults, perform proactive and reactive maintenance on plant equipment, interpret technical drawings, and keep CMMS records to support reliability improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hydraulic and mechanical maintenance of heavy plant machinery.
• Ability to strip down and rebuild hydraulic and mechanical components on large machines.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and hydraulic circuit diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and mechanical breakdowns on heavy plant equipment.
• Maintain hydraulic systems and plant machinery for peak efficiency.
• Strip down and rebuild hydraulic and mechanical components.
• Service diesel engines and related mechanical systems.
• Interpret technical drawings and hydraulic schematics for repairs.
• Keep maintenance records using CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare reports to line managers on maintenance activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of plant reliability.
