Job summary

J. Murphy & Sons Ltd is seeking a Senior Engineer - HV Substation Protection & Control in Cannock. You will lead design teams to develop conceptual designs, prepare specifications and bills of quantities for bid packaging, and guide supplier evaluations to align quotes with technical needs.

You will inspect designs, provide guidance on risks, supervise subcontractors, and ensure timely delivery of information and quality work across the project lifecycle, from tender to construction.

Qualifications

• Experience in the design and delivery of high-voltage transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Liaise with multiple departments to align design requirements with tender and construction needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design team to develop conceptual designs and specifications.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities and support bid packaging.
• Evaluate supplier quotations and align with technical requirements.
• Produce time estimates for detailed design tasks.
• Inspect design work and provide guidance on risk assessments.
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure timely delivery of information.
• Mentor team members and interface with the wider project design team.
• Conduct site visits and surveys to support construction.
