Job summary

GE Vernova's Grid System Integration group in the UK seeks a Senior Protection Settings Engineer to deliver protection settings studies for HV AC/DC substations and offshore wind/ storage projects. You will engage with a multi-disciplinary team and support the energy transition with robust protection schemes.

The role requires design experience in Transmission and Distribution, strong command of protection principles, and ability to work to tight delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Power Electrical Engineering or higher.
• Experience with protection device schemes and operation.
• Ability to analyse and resolve problems with strong planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare HV protection settings calculations (low impedance feeder, transformer biased diff, busbar protections).
• Perform short-circuit fault level calculations per IEC60909.
• Use power system analysis software for fault level studies and protection grading.
