Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Protection Settings Engineer to lead protection studies for HV AC/DC substations and offshore wind projects. You will work in a focused team delivering protection configurations, fault level studies and arc-flash analyses, guiding junior engineers and collaborating with project teams across the grid modernization program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Power Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Design experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry.
• Solid understanding of protection device and scheme principle of operation.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
• Minimum of 7 years’ AC substation engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with power system analysis and arc-flash analysis software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare HV protection settings calculations for differential, distance and busbar protections.
• Perform short-circuit fault level calculations per IEC60909 for faults.
• Use PowerFactory for fault level studies and protection grading and selectivity reports.
• Conduct arc-flash analysis using Caneco BT for LVAC 400V systems.
• Create energisation circuits and automatic reclosure switching sequences.
• Provide advisory support to project and tendering teams on protection matters.
• Collaborate across internal teams and mentor junior engineers.
