Job summary

AECOM, a leading global infrastructure firm, seeks a Protection & Control engineer in the UK to join a diverse project portfolio. You will develop protection designs for HV/EHV substations, prepare SLDs and interconnection diagrams, and ensure designs meet client specifications and international standards.

You will collaborate across disciplines, mentor teammates, and support standard setting and digital delivery in the P&C space.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of protection schemes for transmission and distribution substations.
• Experience with protection relays from major manufacturers (Siemens, GE, ABB/Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, SEL).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Experience on UK, Middle East, Europe or international utility projects.
• Ability to deliver complete Protection & Control engineering packages.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare HV/EHV substation protection designs (11kV–400kV+).
• Develop and oversee protection single line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and terminal plans.
• Design protection relay panels, control panels, annunciation panels and RTU/SCADA interfaces.
• Prepare relay settings philosophy and coordinate with system studies.
• Perform protection coordination and relay configuration reviews.
• Coordinate with Civil, Primary, Telecom and SCADA engineering teams.
• Engage with clients, provide technical assurance and strategic direction.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and issue resolution.
• Drive project execution, manage technical risks and quality reviews.
