Job description

Senior Human Resources Advisor

Macmillan Davies – Wrexham, Permanent, Full‑time position.

Job Overview

Macmillan Davies are delighted to be working exclusively with a respected Wrexham employer to appoint a Senior HR Advisor – a role that sits at the heart of people leadership within a busy, fast‑moving operation. If you’re a well‑rounded HR generalist who thrives on connection, influence and bringing out the best in others, this could be the challenge you’ve been waiting for.

This is not a “behind the desk” HR role. You’ll be out in the business, building trust, strengthening capability, and helping managers feel confident and supported. You’ll take the lead on complex employee relationships, shape policy, champion engagement and EDI activity, and play a key part in developing managers through an established leadership programme.

Responsibilities
  • Partnering & Presence – Become a go‑to advisor for managers across the site, providing proactive guidance, using data to spot trends, and aligning the people agenda with operational needs.
  • Coaching & Manager Capability – Support and develop line managers through coaching and leadership training, embedding consistent, fair and confident people practices.
  • Employee Relations Leadership – Own complex ER cases – absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance – guiding managers with clarity, fairness and legal awareness.
  • Policy, Process & Compliance – Champion consistent policy application, refine HR documentation and ensure alignment with legislation and union agreements.
  • Workforce Planning & Talent Support – Involved in succession planning, recruitment activity and wider people planning to build stability and future capability.
  • Projects, Culture & Improvement – Lead key HR initiatives including engagement programmes, ED&I activity, policy improvements and absence‑reduction projects, contributing to a strong culture.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven HR generalist with solid experience and confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in a unionised manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR policy.
  • Strong communication skills across diverse teams.
  • Calm and resilient when handling complex cases.
  • Curious, proactive and ready to bring fresh ideas.

CIPD qualification (or equivalent HR education) is preferred.

Benefits
  • Gym membership, up to 12.5% employer pension contribution, generous annual leave.
  • Flexible full‑time or part‑time hours, with flexibility on start and finish times.
