Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Principal Human Factors Consultant to lead and shape complex HF programmes across Nuclear, Rail, Defence and Infrastructure. You will drive technical excellence, mentor junior colleagues and build strong client partnerships to deliver measurable outcomes.

You will lead HF work packages, shape strategies, and contribute to bids and business development while promoting continuous improvement and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Human Factors, Applied Psychology, or related field.
• Proven experience leading Human Factors work packages with client engagement in high-hazard or regulated industries.
• Expertise applying Human Factors methods, standards and guidance to project outcomes.
• Experience planning, managing and integrating Human Factors activities across complex projects.
• Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Experience in Safety Case development, regulatory engagement, Human Factors assessment, or HRA.
• Additional strengths in project management, business development, CAD/visualisation, public speaking, publications, or professional body membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead Human Factors and Ergonomics work packages for clients.
• Provide technical leadership across complex programmes of work.
• Coordinate and manage technical delivery in line with project programmes.
• Act as the Human Factors technical lead on projects and programmes.
• Lead and contribute to AtkinsRéalis bids, proposals and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Nuclear, Rail, Defence, Infrastructure and other sectors.
