Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Consultants in Human Factors to lead projects across Nuclear, Rail, Defence and Infrastructure. You will develop trusted client relationships, contribute to bids, and guide the technical direction of Human Factors work. This role emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and professional growth within a supportive team.

You will apply a broad range of Human Factors methodologies while ensuring high-quality outcomes and continued capability development within the team.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Human Factors, Applied Psychology, or related discipline.
• Experience leading Human Factors work packages in high-hazard or regulated industries.
• Strong application of Human Factors methods, standards and guidance.
• Experience planning and integrating activities across projects and programmes.
• Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to build trusted client relationships with multidisciplinary teams.

The AtkinsRéalis Human Factors team has an established presence across multiple UK locations, including London, Bristol, Manchester and Derby. Our team delivers meaningful and engaging work across a variety of high-hazard industries, including Nuclear, Rail, Defence and Infrastructure. As a Senior Consultant, you will play an important role in delivering impactful projects, applying a broad range of Human Factors methodologies while building and strengthening relationships with both AtkinsRéalis colleagues and external clients. Your role

As a Senior member of our Human Factors team, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining trusted relationships with major operators and engineering organisations across our core sectors. You will also contribute to the strategy and direction of our dynamic team of Human Factors professionals while supporting the continued development and leadership of our technical capability.

Typical assignments may include:

• Leading Human Factors and Ergonomics work packages for clients.
• Managing technical delivery in line with project programmes and objectives.
• Acting as the technical lead for Human Factors activities across projects.
• Contributing to AtkinsRéalis bids, proposals and strategic initiatives.
• Supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary projects across Nuclear, Rail, Defence, Infrastructure and Energy Transition sectors.
• Collaborating with clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality, practical and integrated solutions.

Through your technical expertise, relationship-building skills and collaborative approach, you will help clients achieve successful outcomes while supporting the growth and reputation of our Human Factors practice.

About you

You are likely to bring:

• A degree, postgraduate qualification, or equivalent experience in Human Factors, Applied Psychology, or a related discipline.
• Experience leading and delivering Human Factors work packages within high-hazard or regulated industries.
• Strong expertise in the application of Human Factors methods, techniques, standards and guidance.
• Experience planning, managing and integrating Human Factors activities across projects and programmes.
• Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
• The ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively with clients, multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
• Experience in areas such as Human Factors assessment, regulatory environments, Training Needs Analysis, or the application of Human Factors within major hazard industries.
• Additional strengths in areas such as project management, CAD/visualisation, public speaking, published work, or membership/fellowship of a recognised professional body.
