Job summary

Altrad Babcock is seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our West Cumbria decommissioning portfolio. You will provide frontline HSEQ support, assess risks, document reports, and work with site teams to ensure compliant safety performance across projects.

The role requires knowledge of radiological control on nuclear licensed sites, CDM awareness, and the ability to engage with clients and regulators to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes. Regular site presence is expected.

Qualifications

• Frontline HSEQ support across responsibilities.
• Experience controlling radiological risks on a nuclear licensed site.
• Champion for internal and client management systems.
• Supervise HSEQ on decommissioning fronts on nuclear site.
• CDM awareness in Tier 1 engineering environments.
• Regularly attend client sites to support delivery.
• Refine management systems to align with project needs.
• Conduct periodic HSEQ reporting and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Assessing HSE risks and provide professional advice to Duty Holders in accordance with legislation and site policies.
• Documenting and produce technical reports in support of advice on HSEQ matters.
• Review and update advice on current legislation alongside the site team.
• Drive establishment, monitoring, and review of an effective site safety/Construction Phase HSE plan.
• Conduct accident/incident investigations and report findings.
• Develop and deliver safety inductions and other identified HSE training for site personnel.
• Identify and address HSEQ issues, ensuring the safe delivery of the Programme/Project.
• Promote a safety-conscious attitude among all site personnel.
• Provide efficient and effective HSE support to the Site Manager.
• Assist in resolving routine HSEQ problems on site and ensure project HSEQ targets are met.
• Conduct inspections, observations, and assurance activities to identify performance gaps, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of HSE hazards and associated controls.
• Support the HSE Manager and Duty Holders in interactions with internal and external regulators.
• Mentor and support HSE role holders, ensuring the competence and HSEQ awareness of the workforce.
