Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Project HSE Manager to lead Health, Safety and Environmental activities across major energy infrastructure projects.

You will embed HSE excellence, collaborate with customers during tenders, and ensure robust planning, documentation, and governance across the project lifecycle. The role requires NEBOSH or equivalent, 5+ years in large-scale projects, ISO 45001 knowledge, and strong communication to drive a proactive safety culture

Qualifications

• Recognised HSE qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent), with Level 6 preferred.
• 5+ years' experience in a similar HSE role within large-scale project environments.
• Strong understanding of HSE management within engineering, construction, infrastructure, power, or utilities sectors.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001; Internal Auditor certification is advantageous.
• Formal Incident Investigation training.
• Experience producing and reviewing HSE technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of project HSE strategies across the project lifecycle.
• Partner with customers during tender phases, interpreting HSE requirements and demonstrating Hitachi Energy's commitment to HSE performance.
• Prepare and submit high-quality HSE tender documentation and project plans for major energy infrastructure projects.
• Represent Hitachi Energy in customer meetings, workshops and project reviews as a trusted HSE expert.
• Collaborate with engineering teams during HAZID and design reviews to identify and mitigate risks.
