Job summary

Middlesex Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Manager to uphold top H&S standards across multiple construction projects. The role is highly visible and site-focused, with 80-90% on site and the remainder at the head office.

You will lead on-site risk controls, mentor junior HSE colleagues, drive practical improvements, and ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and ISO 45001/14001 across divisions.

Qualifications

• Substantial health and safety experience in construction.
• Experience in a senior project or multi-project HSE role.
• Proven ability to improve site performance and influence leaders.
• Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and risk management.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
• Leadership and mentoring of HSE professionals.
• Confident on-site with operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible H&S leadership across multiple projects.
• Mentor and develop junior HSE professionals.
• Lead site inspections and improvement initiatives.
• Support risk controls for higher-risk activities.
• Coach site managers to own health and safety within teams.
• Lead or support incident investigations and share lessons.
• Use data to identify trends and target improvements.
