Job summary

Scantec Recruitment is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental performance across a portfolio of nuclear decommissioning and industrial projects in the UK. The role involves visible leadership, governance and ongoing improvement across multiple sites with nationwide travel.

You will collaborate with operational management, clients and project teams to ensure robust HSE practices, audits, incident investigations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent required; Level 6 safety qualification preferred.
• Proven HSE leadership in complex, high-risk operations.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK HSE law.
• Experience across multidisciplinary projects and multiple sites.
• Experience in radiological or contaminated environments.
• Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Experience contributing to tenders/bids or PQQs.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead HSE performance across a portfolio of nuclear decommissioning and industrial projects.
• Provide visible HSE leadership, guidance and support to operational and project teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in HSE standards, culture and performance.
• Implement and maintain effective HSE management systems and governance arrangements.
• Lead audits, inspections, assurance activities and improvement programmes.
• Support mobilisation of new projects and contracts with HSE arrangements from outset.
• Provide HSE input into bids, tenders, PQQs and customer requirements.
• Support multidisciplinary activities within complex industrial environments.
• Lead and manage incident investigations with root cause analysis.
• Identify trends, develop corrective actions and ensure lessons learned are implemented.
• Produce HSE performance reports and improvement plans for senior management.
• Provide expert advice on CDM and UK HSE legislation.
• Build relationships with clients, regulators, employees and stakeholders.
• Coach and develop HSE professionals across sites.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and leadership.
