Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced HSEQ Lead to join our client on the Hinkley Point C project in Somerset. The role focuses on developing and implementing HSE strategies, leading audits, and driving a culture of safety and quality across the site.

You will lead Safety and Quality teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with senior management to deliver robust HSEQ outcomes in a high-hazard nuclear environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification.
  • IOSH Diploma or equivalent and CMIOSH.
  • Lead Assessor - ISAS or equivalent.
  • CCNSG certification.
  • Experience on a COMAH site or high hazard/regulated sector.
  • Proven delivery of HSEQ improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of HSE strategies and programmes.
  • Monitor and manage HSE systems, standards and behaviours.
  • Develop HSE audits and management plans for safety and quality.
  • Drive innovation in HSE and company-wide safety initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver quality and H&S systems and procedures.
  • Define and implement HSE activities to promote a safe workforce.
  • Represent the client with stakeholders on HSE matters.
  • Engage leadership to promote a culture of HSEQ.
  • Develop the HSE function to meet business needs and talent development.
  • Recruit, manage and develop the HSE team.

Job description

Our client, a leading engineering and maintenance provider in the nuclear sector, is currently seeking a HSEQ Lead to join their team at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of HSE strategies, policies, programmes, and initiatives to reflect current and future requirements and direction of the business.
  • Lead the monitoring and management of HSE systems, standards, and behaviours in line with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Lead the development of HSE audits and management plans to ensure activities are delivered safely and within quality standards.
  • Drive innovation in HSE across the project, introducing company-wide safety initiatives to enhance and uplift HSEQ standards.
  • Develop and deliver quality management and H&S systems, practices, and procedures; engaging across the business to drive a focus on HSE behaviours and standards.
  • Define and implement a range of HSE activities to promote a healthy, safe, and quality focussed workforce.
  • Represent the client with stakeholders on all matters relating to HSE, providing technical input and assurance.
  • Engage with leadership and senior managers to consistently promote, demonstrate, and drive a culture of HSEQ.
  • Develop the HSE function to ensure the structure meets the needs of the business and talent is developed.
  • Recruit, manage, and develop the HSE team ensuring effective development processes are in place.
Job Requirements
  • Experience at a senior level on a COMAH site or high hazard/regulated industry sector.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of HSEQ system/process improvements.
  • Experience of leading and managing Safety and Quality teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt and contextualise approach to meet audience requirements.
  • Degree qualification.
