Job summary

UCL is seeking an HR professional to provide comprehensive advisory support across the Institute, line-manage an HR Administrator, and foster positive relations with departments. The role focuses on policy compliance, recruitment governance, and lifecycle HR activities.

You will advise on probation, absence, promotions, and flexible working while ensuring records are accurate and processes adhere to policy. Prior HR generalist experience and UK employment law knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Have or be working towards a professional HR qualification (e.g. CPP).
• Experience working in an HR generalist role.
• Working knowledge of UK employment law and HR practices.
• Demonstrable ability to manage people effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR advice and guidance on policy and signpost queries as needed.
• Support recruitment and resourcing activities ensuring compliance and positive candidate experience.
• Coordinate HR lifecycle administration: inductions, probation, promotions, end of contract processes.
• Guide managers and staff on probation, capability, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance matters.
