Job summary

The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences in London invites applications for a Senior Research HPC Engineer to design, manage, and develop LMS's next‑generation HPC infrastructure. You will work across Linux, SLURM, and cluster automation to improve performance, reliability, and accessibility for biomedical researchers.

The role combines hands‑on systems engineering with collaboration with scientists and other engineers to translate research needs into robust, scalable computational solutions

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across HPC and systems technologies including Linux system administration, software installation and lifecycle management, job scheduling and configuration management.
• Experience with cluster automation and performance monitoring and optimisation.
• Ability to translate research needs into robust, practical, sustainable technological solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage and develop the next generation of LMS HPC infrastructure.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, scalability and accessibility.
• Collaborate with LMS IT colleagues, scientists, researchers and other engineers to deliver robust solutions.
