Job summary

LinuxRecruit in London is seeking an experienced HPC systems specialist to join a leading research focused organisation. You’ll support a large scale computing environment used for data-intensive research, modelling and AI workloads.

You will work across Linux compute environments, GPU infrastructure, Slurm, and containerisation with Docker or Singularity, driving automation and platform improvements to better serve researchers.

This is an opportunity to join a leading research focused organisation in London, supporting the technology behind complex, data intensive research, advanced modelling, simulation and emerging AI workloads. You’ll be part of a specialist research computing team where the infrastructure you build and support directly enables researchers to tackle highly complex problems.

The role sits across HPC operations, infrastructure engineering and research support. You’ll help maintain and develop a large scale computing environment, working closely with researchers and technical teams to understand demanding workloads, solve complex infrastructure challenges and continually improve the platform.

You’ll work across Linux based compute environments, GPU infrastructure, high performance storage and networking, with technologies including Slurm, Python, Bash and Ansible. You’ll also have exposure to HPC software management through Spack or EasyBuild, containerisation with Docker or Singularity, and monitoring and observability using tools such as Grafana and Splunk.

Beyond day to day support, there’s plenty of opportunity to make an impact. You’ll contribute to automation, infrastructure upgrades, performance improvements and the adoption of new technologies, including cloud based HPC and infrastructure supporting AI and machine learning workloads.

You’ll also work directly with researchers, helping them get the best possible performance from the platform and translating complex technical requirements into practical solutions.
