Job summary

Wirral Council seeks Senior Housing Standards Officers to drive housing enforcement across the Borough. The role combines site visits with office/home working and offers progression through a competency framework.

We welcome applications from those aiming to return to work and those with a track record in Mandatory HMO, Selective Licensing, damp & mould issues, and powers under the Renters Rights Act. Recruitment supports training and development.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing enforcement and related legislation.
• Ability to mentor junior officers and handle complex caseloads.
• Strong knowledge of Housing Act powers and enforcement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex inspections and statutory enforcement actions.
• Interview suspects, brief legal officers, and prepare court cases.
• Mentor less experienced officers and provide guidance on enforcement.
• Attend tribunals and public enquiries as required.
• Work across sites with office and home-based elements.
