• Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.

• Understanding of the Housing Conditions Pre-Action Protocol.
• Experience conducting County Court litigation.
• Knowledge of CPR and litigation procedure.

Senior Housing Disrepair Solicitor

Location: Bolton

Salary: £40,000-£50,000, depending on experience

Imperium Financial Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Senior Housing Disrepair Solicitor to supervise a team of Fee Earners and manage matters requiring litigation.

This is a senior position focused on providing legal guidance, reviewing case strategy and ensuring claims are progressed effectively and in accordance with the required legal and regulatory standards.

You will oversee the quality and progression of the team's caseload, assisting Fee Earners with complex issues involving liability, notice, causation, evidence, quantum, negotiations and litigation strategy. You will also take direct conduct of appropriate litigated matters through to settlement or trial.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support Housing Disrepair Fee Earners with their caseloads.
• Review case progression and provide clear strategic direction.
• Advise on liability, notice, access, causation, evidence, quantum, remedies and costs.
• Review complex and higher-risk matters.
• Support Fee Earners with negotiations, rebuttals and responses to landlords.
• Review and approve key legal documents and correspondence.
• Monitor procedural, court, limitation and internal deadlines.
• Provide feedback, coaching and technical training.
• Assess claims for litigation, including prospects and proportionality.
• Take conduct of appropriate County Court proceedings.
• Draft and review pleadings, witness statements and applications.
• Manage directions, disclosure, expert evidence and witness evidence.
• Instruct and liaise with counsel, surveyors and other experts.
• Advise on Part 36 and other settlement offers.
• Manage litigation risk, costs exposure and regulatory compliance.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
• Demonstrable Housing Disrepair litigation experience.
• Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant law.
• Good understanding of the Housing Conditions Pre-Action Protocol.
• Experience conducting County Court litigation.
• Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and litigation procedure.
• Ability to supervise Fee Earners and provide clear legal direction.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical and negotiation skills.
• Ability to identify legal, evidential and procedural risks.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Commitment to excellent client care and professional standards.

Desirable Experience

• Previous supervision of Fee Earners, Paralegals or junior legal staff.
• Experience within a high-volume claimant litigation environment.
• Advocacy experience.
• Experience dealing with social housing providers and local authorities.
• Knowledge of claims involving damp and mould, leaks, heating failures, ventilation issues and structural defects.
• Experience supporting vulnerable clients.
• Experience developing precedents, processes or training materials.
