Job summary

LiveWest is seeking a Senior Housing Officer – Neighbourhoods to support the Area Housing Manager in delivering tenancy and neighbourhood management across a large stock. You will guide around 10 Housing Officers, manage a small patch, and drive service improvements for customers and communities.

The role is full-time (37 hours) and hybrid, covering the South Hams area with Exeter as a possible base. A satisfactory basic DBS check is required and right to work in the UK is essential.

  • Experience within social housing or related profession.
  • Experience of tenancy, estate and neighbourhood management, including tenancy breaches (access issues, squatters, abandonment).
  • Experience representing and advocating in court for injunctions and possession orders.

About The Role

Are you an experienced housing professional looking for an opportunity to take the next step in your career? As a Senior Housing Officer - Neighbourhoods, you will support the Area Housing Manager in delivering customer-focused tenancy and neighbourhood management services across a large housing stock. You will provide day-to-day guidance and support to Housing Officers, manage a small patch of properties, and help ensure high-quality services are delivered to customers and communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to approximately 10 Housing Officers to help deliver an effective frontline housing management service.
  • Support Housing Officers with complex cases and joint customer visits where required.
  • Carry out case reviews and audits, helping to maintain high standards across the service.
  • Deputise for the Area Housing Manager, including undertaking line management responsibilities when required.
  • Coordinate fire risk actions and ensure relevant records are accurately maintained.
  • Build effective relationships with internal teams, customers and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Support complaint resolution and identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Deliver tenancy and neighbourhood management services across your allocated patch and contribute to the successful development of new schemes.

This is a hybrid role covering a customer base in the South Hams area - you should be based within a 30-minute commute of this area. Nearest office base is likely to be our Exeter Offices, depending on candidate location.

About The Candidate

To be successful in your application for the role of Senior Housing Officer - Neighbourhoods, you will have the essential skills and experience for a Level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:

Essential Experience
  • Experience within social housing or a related profession.
  • Experience of tenancy, estate and neighbourhood management, including dealing with tenancy breaches such as access issues, squatters and abandonment cases.
  • Experience representing and advocating in court for injunctions and possession orders.
Essential Knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of social housing policy, housing law and legislation, anti-social behaviour legislation and practice, and leasehold and service charge legislation.
  • Understanding of housing management, community development and resident engagement.
Essential Skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong customer focus with a proven ability to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to effectively plan workloads and manage competing priorities.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and changing priorities.
Essential Qualifications
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.
Desirable Knowledge
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and legislation.
Desirable Qualifications
  • CIH qualification, HNC in Housing, Level 3 CIH, or equivalent expertise gained through experience and study.
