Job summary

Avanti Meadows Primary School is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support outstanding teaching across the school. You will deliver targeted learning support, monitor pupil progress and help develop the Teaching Assistant team within a brand-new primary setting in Bishop’s Stortford.

The role combines classroom practice with leadership duties, including planning with teachers, providing PPA cover, and promoting inclusion to help every child reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with relevant age group within a learning environment.
• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills or qualifications to NVQ level 2 English and Maths.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults to build and maintain effective relationships.

Responsibilities

• Learning and teaching: Support planning, preparation and delivery of engaging learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes, including providing PPA cover and adapting teaching to meet pupils’ needs.
• Pupil progress and inclusion: Monitor, assess and provide feedback on pupils’ learning and progress, supporting targets, pupils with SEND, and developing independence, confidence and relationships.
• Leadership and staff development: Allocate tasks, guide and train Teaching Assistants, collaborate with teachers to improve teaching and learning.
• Safeguarding and school ethos: Promote safety, welfare and inclusion following safeguarding and data protection procedures and uphold the school’s policies.
