Job summary

Avanti Meadows Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning across the school. You will combine strong classroom practice with leadership duties, delivering targeted learning support and monitoring pupil progress.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with relevant age group within a learning environment.
• Excellent level of literacy and numeracy skills or qualifications to NVQ level 2 English and Maths.
• Able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues
• Ability to relate well to children and adults to build and maintain effective relationships.
• Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.

Responsibilities

• Learning and teaching: Support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes, including providing PPA cover and adapting teaching to meet pupils’ needs.
• Pupil progress and inclusion: Monitor, assess and provide feedback on pupils’ learning and progress, supporting individual targets, pupils with SEND, and the development of independence, confidence and positive relationships.
• Leadership and staff development: Allocate tasks, guide and train Teaching Assistants, share expertise and work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to improve teaching and learning.
• Classroom and school support: Promote positive behaviour and high expectations, contribute to curriculum delivery and assessment, maintain accurate records, and support school activities, meetings and wider learning opportunities.
• Safeguarding and school ethos: Promote the safety, welfare and inclusion of all pupils, following safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures, and upholding the school’s policies, values and ethos.
