Job summary

Connex Education is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND across Bristol. The role offers flexible day-to-day supply or longer-term placements, with opportunities to lead small groups and support learning under qualified teachers.

You will deliver high-quality activities, adapt resources for diverse needs, and collaborate with teachers, families and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for pupils and develop your HLTA skills.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or significant HLTA-level experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEND in specialist or mainstream settings.
• Confident leading learning independently and covering classes when required.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Able to adapt learning to meet diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under staff guidance.
• Plan, prepare and adapt learning resources for pupils with SEND.
• Assess, monitor, record and report pupil progress to inform future learning.
• Support pupils with needs including autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
• Promote independence and positive behaviour through nurturing support.
• Lead interventions to develop academic, social and emotional skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals for best outcomes.
