Job summary

Tiverton School is seeking a dedicated Senior HLTA to support pupils with complex autism and communication needs in a highly specialist setting. The role focuses on nurturing learning through personalised approaches and working closely with teachers and therapists.

Ideal candidates will have SEND experience, be calm and patient, and possess excellent communication and organisational skills. A Level 4 HLTA qualification (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable to join a supportive,

Qualifications

Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly Autism and complex communication needs.
Calm, patient, and able to respond positively in challenging situations.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Willingness to work towards HLTA Level 4 if not already held.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to deliver highly personalised learning experiences.
Support pupils with communication using approaches such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, and visual supports.
Lead and support classroom support staff within the class team.
Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive behaviour strategies.
Support with personal care, sensory regulation, and therapeutic approaches throughout the school day.
Help create engaging, safe, and structured learning environments tailored to pupils' individual needs.
Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure consistent support for pupils.
