Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to join the Local Government team in Exeter or Taunton. You will deliver highways and infrastructure projects, support design work, and mentor junior engineers across a range of Local Authority client programmes.

The role offers hybrid working with office and site collaboration, with opportunities to lead technical solutions and grow the Highway Engineering design capability in the Southwest.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in highway design.
• Chartered Engineer preferred or working towards IEng/CEng with relevant institutions.
• Experience in multidisciplinary highway design across project stages.
• Familiarity with DMRB, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, and Local Authority guidance.

Responsibilities

• Develop highway designs on multidisciplinary projects through the project lifecycle.
• Ensure delivery to programme, budget, standards and legal requirements.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians for their development.
• Assist Project Managers with planning, pricing, and cost estimation of briefs and proposals.
• Prepare and review design documentation, drawings, and technical submissions.
• Work across a portfolio of varied projects and coordinate resources.
