Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced transport planning professional to lead our Highway Planning Liaison Team, overseeing the statutory highway consultee function. You will guide advice on thousands of planning applications, shape development and infrastructure through expert reports, and work with authorities, developers and elected members.

You'll manage performance, resources and service improvement while representing the Council in discussions and inquiries.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in highway development management and transport planning.
• Experience in managing or leading a professional technical team.
• Comprehensive knowledge of statutory planning system, highway and planning legislation, and local policy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Highway Planning Liaison Team and statutory highway consultee function.
• Provide expert advice on planning applications from housing to major infrastructure.
• Lead performance, resources and continuous improvement within the service.
• Represent the Council in planning committees, appeals, inquiries and stakeholder discussions.
