South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Highway Development Implementation team in delivering major highway projects across the area. You will provide expert highway engineering advice to developers, ensuring designs meet national and local standards and are delivered to a high quality.

You will manage and mentor engineers and technicians, influence stakeholders including developers, consultants and MPs, and promote health and safety across schemes to achieve

Qualificações

• Hold a degree-level qualification in civil engineering and a recognised professional qualification (Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer).
• NVQ Level 5 in Management or equivalent leadership experience.
• Substantial post-qualification civil engineering experience with complex projects.
• Experience leading high-performing teams and managing programmes, resources and budgets.
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation abilities for diverse stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Lead a team of engineers and technicians, overseeing performance and professional development.
• Ensure highway works designed and constructed by developers meet national and local standards.
• Influence developers, consultants and contractors to deliver schemes to agreed standards and legal agreements.
• Review developer submissions as part of the technical approval process and coordinate with council colleagues.
• Provide clear, professional responses to enquiries from MPs, elected members and the public.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture across all activities.
